HQ Estimator

Description

Do you have an analytical mind and enjoy cost calculations for construction projects? Are you interested in a career with a growing company? Grondin Nadeau is looking for an ESTIMATOR to collaborate with our team of experts on projects with our client Hydro-Québec (HQ). The main responsibilities of the position include performing project cost estimation tasks (electrical, civil, and architectural components) within our specialized department. The estimator will be required to:

  • Monitor HQ tender calls according to the targeted project types
  • Electrical positions and sub-positions (equipment, controls) and civil engineering
  • Prepare a cost assessment for the materials, labor, and equipment required to successfully execute a construction project, based on submissions, quotes, plans, and specifications
  • Draft and submit bids, budgets, and service proposals using plans and specifications, and/or as per the client’s requirements within the required deadlines
  • Verify that the service requested by the client is feasible in terms of quality, quantity, and within a realistic timeframe
  • Communicate any potential issues or risks associated with the client’s needs and expectations to the management team
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Update the materials price database
  • Request quotes and distribute received addendums to various subcontractors
  • Analyze received submissions and negotiate with subcontractors
  • Transfer awarded projects to designated project managers
  • Prepare lump-sum amendments and negotiate with the client
  • Support and assist project managers (as needed)”

Terms and Conditions

  • College or university diploma in electrical engineering (experience in project estimation in civil engineering or architecture is an asset).
  • More than 5 years of relevant experience in electrical project estimation (an asset).
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, proactivity, and teamwork.
  • Familiarity with the L’estimateur Général software (an asset).
  • Excellent communication with various stakeholders.
  • Very good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, MS Project).
