Grondin Nadeau is looking for a Department Manager to manage our team of experts involved in projects with our client Hydro-Québec (HQ). The position consists mainly of managing the department in terms of resources and projects. The HQ Manager will be responsible for:

Manage the internal HQ team
Monitor and coordinate HQ projects
Conduct internal coordination meetings (HQ team)
Conducting coordination meetings with the rest of the organization
Finalize HQ bids (strategy and preparation) with the help of the estimator
Negotiate contracts after bid submission (if required)
Assign projects to project managers after contract award
Ensure the transfer of projects between the bidding department and the project managers after award
Determine the need for machinery and tools
Determine the needs in human resources
Follow and support the project managers in their duties
Follow and support the other team members
Carry out the distribution of personnel in coordination with the project managers and superintendents
Dispatch machinery in coordination with project managers and superintendents
Follow up on project invoicing
Follow up on amendments and negotiate (if necessary)
Prepare lump sum amendments in collaboration with the estimator
Ensure the link/transfer of information between HQ and the internal team
Follow and coordinate HQ OHS policies
Attend HQ management meetings (OHS…)
Conduct hierarchical OHS visits
Attend ACRGTQ meetings (CETE)
Monitor financial budget of projects
Monitor cash flow/line of credit/financial requirements
Follow-up and action plan – maintain supplier qualification
Maintain good relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
Establish partnerships and agreements with suppliers and subcontractors
Ensure the follow-up of the quality of services provided by suppliers and subcontractors
Report departmental activities to the management committee
All other related tasks

General requirements

College or university degree in a related discipline (electrical, civil or building engineering)
Member of the Quebec Order of Engineers (an asset)
More than 5 years of relevant experience on construction sites, ideally in civil or electrical engineering
ASP Construction card and driver’s license required (available for frequent travel to various construction sites)
Good organizational and planning skills
Proactivity and teamwork
Excellent communication skills with various stakeholders
Ability to write reports and other documents
Very good knowledge of the Office suite (Word, EXCEL, MS Project)
